Apple appears ready to keep the Ted Lasso Season 5 momentum going. Production on the hit comedy’s fifth season could begin as early as January 2027, according to a new report.

The news follows a strong start for Season 4. Its premiere generated nearly 300 million U.S. viewing minutes during its first two days. Moreover, the launch became the biggest premiere in Apple TV’s history, according to the report.
Ted Lasso Season 5 Production Could Start Soon
According to Sigmund Judge, who is quoted in the paper, manufacturing is tentatively set to start in January. As a result, following Season 4, Apple might quickly enter the next phase.Viewers could see Season 5 sometime around 2027 if production proceeds as planned. But, due to the possibility of unexpected delays during filming and post-production, that schedule is still unofficial.
The quick turnaround would show Apple’s faith in one of its most well-known streaming services. The historic Season 4 premiere also provides the firm with a compelling reason to keep the show moving forward.
Ted Lasso Has Already Defied Its Original Ending
The series once appeared destined to finish after three seasons. However, Apple later secured its return following negotiations with Jason Sudeikis, who plays football coach Ted Lasso.
Since then, the show’s future has expanded considerably. Sudeikis recently expressed interest in seeing the series continue for two additional seasons. Meanwhile, Apple executive Eddy Cue also appears willing to keep the franchise running longer.
Apple strengthened that possibility in 2025 by signing the cast to three-year contracts. Consequently, the company has more flexibility to develop stories beyond the current season.
Apple TV Keeps a Major Franchise Moving
From a sports comedy, Ted Lasso has developed into a major game for Apple’s streaming division. Its mixture of optimism, humour, conflict at work, and social connections contributed to the development of a dedicated worldwide audience.
Apple has yet to announce a season 5 premiere date. The initial January production timetable, hints that the next chapter may already be in the works.
If filming goes well, Ted Lasso might return in 2027, continuing a saga that appeared to be over after only three seasons.
